Beacon Light Adult Residential Services (BLARS), an affiliate of Journey Health System, is treating over 90 individuals with significant mental health and developmental issues by offering them the ability to live in the least restrictive settings possible. From Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) cottages to community waiver homes to a dedicated Community Stabilization and Reintegration Unit (CSRU), the residents in BLARS programs receive clinical care and treatment while still enjoying the opportunity to be engaged and content members of society. Without access to these important services, these individuals might
otherwise be placed in higher levels of care or institutions such as state hospitals. Much of the work at BLARS focuses on developing and/or maintaining the skills necessary to live, interact, and display appropriate behaviors and mannerisms in the community.
